Some superb stuff there Dave, especially the Jack Sears Memorial which took me back sixty years to Brands Hatch when I witnessed an A35 take the overall win the saloon car race, against numerous Jags, Zephyrs, a Bel Air etc, because the track was wet and greasy.

Intellectual progress: When the post WW2 largely Secondary Modern educated generation could eventually afford a car, the handbooks told them how to adjust valve clearances, change bearing shells and piston rings etc.
Today's handbooks instruct the mostly university educated generation not to drink the coolant or the battery acid.
