It's the oddest vehicle I've seen in years. It's not a pick-up, it's not an SUV, it's a Robocop meets Humvee, meets Lotus Excel, meets Delorian sort of design. Did Tesla get a 4 year old to design their new Cybertruck or what?
This vehicle won't end up being like this though, it has no pedestrian impact protection. Door mirrors are a legal requirement in USA, it doesn't have side indicators either, another legal requirement, there's also a few other issues with it too.
This stunt by Elon has gained the company $10bn in pre-orders with no marketing costs. It's a manufacturers dream with those kind of figures.
The vehicle is also too expensive to compete with the light truck market, doesn't pull enough to be competitive with the heavy duty trucks, which will sap range massively when doing so. It's all smoke and mirrors as this isn't appearing till at least 2021 (fast version till end of 2022 according to their site). The Tesla semi-truck was suppose to be out by now (Q3 2019) still no sign of that either.
