I don't get why JLR could be upset by a 5 year ban being brought forward to 15 years time.
Jaguar managed to get an all electric car to market in double time, quickly than most rivals by buying parts off the shelf, screwing them together and calling it an iPace. Are they really upset that they have 15 years to design and manufacture their own electric systems? If start-up like Tesla and Rivian can do it then the big car makers can. They are all dragging their feet on this tech I think.
Battery suppliers cannot keep up with the new demand, Mercedes Benz has suspended sales of their new EV from USA due to lack of battery packs. The iPace supply is on hold due to lack of battery supply, they all use LG Chem which has had to build new factories quick time to try and satisfy the demand. Tesla haven't felt this as they have built their own facilities with Panasonic.
Tesla also have a relatively small order book. I want to know where all the precious metals for these batteries are going to come from. Not very environmentally friendly.
Also, when will we see glass battery technology coming to the mainstream?
Tesla Model 3 out sold all other EV’s by 5-1 in USA alone. That’s only one model from Tesla.
They’re way ahead of the game at the moment, they just really need to sort out the poor build quality issues and drab interiors as their tech and infrastructure (charge points) is far ahead of anyone else.
