I always enjoy a journey down memory lane with my fellow " Ford Man " the Engineer , its strange to reflect that whilst he was building them I was nicking them It was Glasgow in the Seventies , urban deprivation and the height of Thatcherism , we were young little prospect of a job and who didn't want an RS . Clearly I have a lot to thank England for and its essential I tell you I dont ever forget that . Some traits however never leave you and my love of a sexy coupe is one of those . I find it interesting how from the Seventies to the Eighties everything seemed to put on extra weight , take a look at the Firenza above and then think Calibra and Corrado of the next decade , cars in general lost that delicacy and dignity and the Capri was no different , a Mk 1 3000E was a far more aesthetically pleasing proposition than a Cologne Engined 2.8 injection . Another thing I have to mention is the astonishing brand loyalty that still exists in those of us who owned Fast Fords, whenever I see a Vauxhall Driver I automatically think to myself " 'king junk " and thats almost 30 years since I last owned an RS .
