Hi Gang, as I walked away from the car yesterday, noticed a line of damp patches which plainly came from the car. On looking underneath, I could see something dripping (a slow drip) from the N/S about level with the door front edge and the other side of the exhaust pipe I think. The damp patches on the tarmac disappeared within 10 minutes and when I tried to get a drip on my hand, it didn't smell like petrol and didn't seem oily. Would this just be the A/C condensation or should I be looking for something more worrying?
With my XK8 before Christmas it was leaking at exactly where the door hinged but coming down over the exhaust pipe. I tracked it down to a slit hose end where it met the cooling tower under the manifold.
I can't remember if you have an XJR or XK8 David but if it's an XJ8, start the engine and shine a torch around/under the manifold, get somebody to rev the engine so it builds pressure and see if there are any signs of leakage. You may need to try it after the thermostat is open though. If it's an XJR then the super charger need to come off first.
That area is where condensation from the a/c would land😁,but also coolant loss from the valley area👹. Coolant generally hangs around, but condensation disappears quickly; hope for the latter and that any coolant being lost is not from the valley pipes, which are cheap, but less than pleasant to change.
Britain is an Idiocracy;- we have government of idiots, by idiots, for idiots.
