I have no idea of the actual Production Figures off the top of my head but I imagine this would be a pretty rare Manual Gearbox XJ C ?
I have seen just two; one which I test drove in the early 1980s, with a view to purchase, but was unable to agree on price, and one which I converted when the automatic gearbox failed. They go better than the 3 speed Borg Warner 65 equipped cars, but are less pleasant to drive.
Intellectual progress: When the post WW2 largely Secondary Modern educated generation could eventually afford a car, the handbooks told them how to adjust valve clearances, change bearing shells and piston rings etc. Today's handbooks instruct the mostly university educated generation not to drink the coolant or the battery acid.
