God preserve us from the self-righteous. "He's got a degree! Must be a dick." Sheeesh. I thought that you don't believe in God. Irrespective of that, may we be preserved, by all forces available, from those who having listened to others and read about their thoughts, accept said thoughts, without question, and are rewarded with a piece of watermarked paper, believing that anyone not in possession of such a piece of paper, doesn't know what they are talking about, and should always defer to those holding said piece of paper, especially when those holding such paper are talking through someone else's arse. The irony is strong with this one πππ

Errr sorry. I wouldn't have posted initially if I had known it would cause all this upset. Please forget about graphs, degrees vs experience and religion, fish are ok though. I promise not to mention forced induction vs swept volume again.

Some time ago, a member questioned the veracity of the above, as well as pointing out that more powerful, thus higher stresses were likely to result in shorter life, and more engine failures.
Apologies to the original poster; I could not find the thread to update. I found the following shocking:
Our hard driven supercharged V8s comfortably out-economy the 2 litre Euroboxes mentioned in the article.
If anyone happens across the original thread, please let me know, and I'll merge this into it.

It was me Sir - probably, I've been beating this drum for over 10 years. first it was 1.4 engines replacing 1.6's, then the 1.2's replaced the 1.4's and now it's 1.0's replacing the old 1.6's. My father in law has a 1.4 Skoda Yeti, he wants to replace it for a 120-130bhp equivalent Karoq, the best Skoda can offer is either a more expensive 1.5 at 148bhp or a 1.0 at 113bhp. He is erring towards at the 1.0; 3 cylinder engine
